[Autohome News] Recently, we learned from official sources that the next-generation Volkswagen Amarok has been previewed. The vehicle is currently still covered in an artistically styled camouflage wrap. The new car stems from a collaboration project between Volkswagen and SAIC Motor, with its platform derived from the Maxus Xingji X. Volkswagen officials stated that the suspension, steering, and overall dynamic characteristics of the new car were all developed and tuned under the leadership of the Volkswagen engineering team. The all-new Amarok will launch in 2027 and will be produced at the Argentina plant, targeting competitors such as the Ford Ranger and Mitsubishi Triton.

Since production started in 2010, the Argentina plant has cumulatively produced 800,000 units of the Amarok. The Amarok has become the highest-produced model in the history of the Volkswagen Argentina plant, with more than 465,000 units exported to over 100 countries and regions worldwide.

Regarding the exterior, the front end retains the high hood and wide intake grille, adopting an exclusive design language that fits the Volkswagen brand’s visual style more closely. A continuous light strip connecting the headlights on both sides with the central brand logo will become the visual focal point of the front end, and the layout of the headlight clusters is also entirely different from the current model. The changes to the side and rear of the body are relatively limited. Adjustments are mainly focused on alloy wheels, brand logos, and subtle exterior trim.

Volkswagen has not released many technical details currently, but confirmed one key piece of information: this will be the most powerful Amarok in history. It was also confirmed that the new generation model will feature an electrified system. An Amarok 800 TSI top-spec version will be launched in the future, with an expected combined maximum system output exceeding 470 horsepower and a peak torque of 800 Nm. Equipped with a four-wheel-drive system, the 0-100 km/h acceleration time is expected to be within 5 seconds. (Text/Autohome Yao Yu)
