Ahead of the opening of the Guangzhou Auto Show, we captured the Buick Avenir Studio at the SAIC-GM Buick booth. As the flagship product under the Avenir sub-brand, it is positioned above the Buick Century and will be offered in both plug-in hybrid and all-electric powertrain options.

Due to limited on-site information, we are combining it with earlier spy photos we received. For the exterior, the new vehicle adopts the brand's latest design language. The front features a hidden lower grille, with daytime running lights on both sides connected by a chrome trim strip. The main headlight clusters use a split-type design. The vehicle employs a two-tone (upper and lower) color scheme and is equipped with a lidar sensor on the front. At the rear, a long, darkened light bar spans the entire tailgate. It's reported to incorporate 257 ultra-red LEDs, offering higher visibility in adverse weather conditions. The light bar integrates seamlessly with the rear window, creating a distinctive design, while the tailgate remains wide for easy loading of luggage.

The new vehicle's dimensions are 5260/2023/1820 mm (length/width/height), with a wheelbase of 3160 mm. Its overall size is slightly larger than the Buick Century.

Inside, the cabin features a sleek, one-piece panoramic screen designed to be narrow and not obstruct the driver's view. It is powered by a Qualcomm SA8775P chip and offers a 50-inch panoramic AR-HUD (Augmented Reality Head-Up Display). The A-pillars have a relatively steep angle and incorporate triangular windows to help reduce blind spots during turns. Furthermore, to enhance the interior ambiance, the roof lining uses Alcantara material. The center console area includes a wireless charging panel and storage spaces. The seats are generally large, thick, and feature unique textures, ensuring riding comfort while also enhancing the sense of luxury.

In terms of intelligent driver assistance, the new vehicle is equipped with Buick's all-new "Xiaoyao Zhixing" high-level advanced driver-assistance system. Leveraging Momenta's R6 Flywheel large model algorithm and reinforcement learning capabilities, and supported by redundancy from top-tier sensors including the lidar, it provides full-scenario assisted driving functions such as Urban NOA and comprehensive parking assistance.

For powertrain, the plug-in hybrid model features the "Zhen Long" (True Dragon) PHEV system, composed of a 1.5T engine and an electric motor. The 1.5T engine has a maximum power of 132 kW, paired with a lithium iron phosphate battery. The all-electric model is equipped with front and rear dual motors, boasting maximum power outputs of 332 kW and 150 kW respectively. The traction battery is also a lithium iron phosphate unit sourced from CATL.
