[Auto Home News] Recently, we learned from smart official sources that the smart Spirit #2 prototype concept car will have its global debut at the Beijing Auto Show in April. The manufacturer had previously released teaser images of the vehicle. The new car is built on the all-new ECA architecture and features a two-door, two-seat layout. The production version is scheduled for release within 2026.

According to official information, the smart Spirit #2 is an iterative upgrade based on the classic first-generation smart fortwo. Positioned as a fully-electric two-door, two-seat car, it will be distinctly different from the current SUV positioning of the smart Spirit 1, 3, and 5 models. The design is led by the Mercedes-Benz design team.

It is understood that the smart Spirit #2 will retain the fortwo's signature layout with wheels positioned at the four corners and rear-wheel drive, but will adopt entirely new exterior and interior designs. Initially, a two-door hardtop version will be launched, with a convertible version possibly following later to expand customer choices. The car is expected to be equipped with a battery pack with a capacity of around 30 kWh. (Text/Auto Home Yue Changxing)
