[Autohome News] On June 15, Mercedes-Benz officially announced a new round of OTA updates for models including the Mercedes-Benz CLA. This update focuses on two areas: intelligent driving assistance and the digital cockpit, bringing a total of 12 new features and experience optimizations, such as the deployment of a reinforcement learning large model and the extension of the Navigation Pilot Assist system to cover nationwide urban and highway roads. It is reported that this update applies to select Mercedes-Benz models equipped with MB.OS version 1.1.4.

Intelligent driving assistance is the core upgrade direction of this OTA. Mercedes-Benz, in collaboration with Momenta, has completed a technical upgrade of the driving assistance system, introducing a reinforcement learning large model. This enhances the vehicle's handling capabilities by 5 to 10 times in high-frequency scenarios such as navigating complex intersections, responding to sudden cut-ins by neighboring vehicles, and protecting vulnerable road users, with decision-making logic that more closely resembles that of an experienced driver. Currently, the urban and highway Navigation Pilot Assist function has achieved nationwide coverage, first implemented in the all-electric Mercedes-Benz CLA, and will be gradually rolled out to new models such as the all-new all-electric GLC.

In terms of specific driving functions, a new ETC passing function has been added, allowing the system to identify toll station gates, lane types, and traffic status in advance. To address China's complex road conditions and speed limit rules, the system offers multiple speed adjustment modes. The "Speed Limit Only" mode strictly follows the road's posted speed limit, while the "Environment Adaptive" mode dynamically adjusts speed based on traffic flow and road conditions, balancing travel efficiency with driving safety. Additionally, the vehicle now features an in-lane static object avoidance function, which can proactively anticipate obstacles such as parked vehicles on the roadside or construction barriers and smoothly steer around them. The emergency lane-keeping function under human-machine co-pilot states has also been optimized; when the system detects a risk of lane departure or a lateral collision, it will actively correct the steering.

Cruising and parking scenarios also welcome several practical upgrades. The vehicle now features stop-and-go functionality at traffic lights without navigation and automatic lane changes without navigation. Even when navigation is not activated, once cruise assist is engaged, the system can recognize traffic lights and complete stop-and-go maneuvers. In situations such as lane endings, construction occupying the lane, or overtaking slow vehicles, the system can also assist in smoother lane changes, reducing the frequency of manual interventions. In terms of parking, a parking-out direction selection function has been added, allowing users to choose to pull out to the left or right based on the surroundings, adapting to different parking space scenarios. Moreover, some driving and parking assistance functions now require online training, where owners must complete the corresponding learning in the Mercedes-Benz App to unlock the features.

Beyond the driving aspects, Mercedes-Benz's OTA update also focuses on upgrading the AI-powered digital cockpit system. A new virtual assistant, "Xiao Ben," officially goes online, integrating a natural language model, 3D graphics technology, and an anthropomorphic voice system, complete with a dedicated cartoon avatar and dynamic effects. In addition to basic voice control and information queries, "Xiao Ben" can recognize user emotions and provide interactive feedback. It can also coordinate the vehicle's ambient lighting, audio, air conditioning, seats, and other hardware, creating different cabin atmospheres with a single voice command.

The infotainment system simultaneously introduces two new features: "Ambiance Style" and "Serenity Space." "Ambiance Style" offers a variety of aesthetic theme wallpapers that are synchronized with the ambient lighting, enhancing the overall visual immersion of the cabin. "Serenity Space" allows users to switch between multiple preset modes, simultaneously activating various comfort features throughout the vehicle. (Text by Autohome Chen Hao)
