[Autohome New Car Debut] On January 28, we learned from the Genesis brand that it unveiled the all-new X Skorpio Concept in the "Empty Realm" desert of the Rub' al Khali in the United Arab Emirates. This is an off-road concept vehicle designed to tackle various extreme terrains, including deserts. According to the introduction, the Genesis X Skorpio Concept draws inspiration from the Scorpio constellation and is Genesis' first extreme off-road vehicle, specifically built to conquer harsh terrains. At the same time, the brand also debuted several other concept vehicles optimized for extreme environments, including the GV60 Off-Road Concept, GV70 Off-Road Concept, and GV80 Desert Special Edition.

The Genesis X Skorpio Concept is an extreme off-road vehicle. Its Chief Creative Officer, Luc Donckerwolke, stated, "With its tubular frame, full roll cage, and numerous components directly sourced from the professional off-road endurance racing field." Specifically, the front of the vehicle still adopts the brand’s signature design elements, with the iconic triangular grille featuring illuminated edges and complemented by the star-ring headlights above, giving it strong visual recognition.

The body's dynamic curves draw inspiration from the iconic arched tail of a scorpion, flowing seamlessly across the sculpted body. The segmented armor-like panels not only resemble the defensive form of a scorpion's exoskeleton but also enhance practicality, allowing for quick and efficient repairs in extreme environments. Additionally, Genesis' signature "two-line" design is cleverly integrated into the front and rear light clusters, providing comprehensive lighting functionality while creating a cohesive visual connection between the front and rear.

Inside, Genesis has equipped the vehicle with ergonomic seats, an intuitive control layout, and a climate control system, all aimed at enhancing driving performance and effectively reducing driver fatigue. The instrument panel is integrated into the steering wheel, allowing the driver to view instrument information without taking their eyes off the road ahead. The interior also features a sliding display screen that can freely switch between single-driver and dual-navigator modes—it can be centered to serve the driver or slid to the passenger side to assist the navigator. Furthermore, an advanced communication system completes the vehicle's configuration, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration even in extremely remote environments.

The Genesis X Skorpio Concept is powered by a high-performance V8 engine, delivering a maximum power output of 1,100 horsepower and a peak torque of 1,153 Nm. The vehicle is equipped with 18-inch beadlock wheels paired with custom 40-inch off-road tires, providing exceptional grip and durability even on rugged terrain. It also features a Brembo racing-grade braking system for enhanced braking power and responsiveness. Notably, the Genesis X Skorpio Concept boasts a large approach angle, departure angle, short wheelbase, and high ground clearance, combined with a precisely tuned suspension system.

In addition, Genesis unveiled a comprehensive concept vehicle strategy, including several iconic models such as the Genesis X Gran Coupe Concept, X Gran Convertible Concept, G90 Wingback Concept, and the adventure-inspired X Gran Equator Concept. We will continue to monitor updates on the brand and its models. (By Zhou Yi, Autohome)
