[Autohome News] Recently, Volkswagen (China) Sales Co., Ltd., in accordance with the requirements of the Regulations on the Administration of Defective Automobile Product Recalls and the Implementation Measures for the Regulations on the Administration of Defective Automobile Product Recalls, has filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation.
Recall Batches:
Recall No. S2025M0201V: Starting from March 20, 2026, a total of 1,045 imported Touareg hybrid vehicles produced between August 25, 2020, and September 24, 2021 (model years 2021-2022) will be recalled.
Reason for Recall:
Within the scope of this recall, due to an internal fault in the high-voltage battery, the separator within some battery cells may be damaged and short-circuited. In extreme cases, this could lead to overheating of the high-voltage battery, potentially causing a fire hazard and posing a safety risk.
Solution:
Volkswagen (China) Sales Co., Ltd. will instruct authorized dealers to perform a free software update for the control unit of the affected vehicles. This software will monitor the battery for potential internal abnormalities and provide an early warning to the user. Vehicles displaying the warning will have their maximum charge level limited to 50% and must be taken to a dealer for inspection as soon as possible. Upon confirming the issue through diagnosis, dealers will replace the high-voltage battery assembly free of charge to eliminate the safety risk.
Interim Measures:
Before the software update is completed, affected users are advised to avoid charging the high-voltage battery using an external power source and to set the "battery reserve" to 50%.
Volkswagen (China) Sales Co., Ltd. will notify the relevant vehicle owners about the recall by registered mail, among other methods. Users can contact the Volkswagen (China) Sales Co., Ltd. customer hotline for detailed information regarding this recall.
