[Autohome News] Kia is reportedly planning a second mid-cycle update for its K5 sedan, set to debut in the first half of 2027. Instead of phasing out the gasoline-powered model early, Kia intends to maximize its market value while keeping development costs to a minimum, with production slated to run until at least 2030.

The company’s confidence in the enduring appeal of sedans is clear, as the next-generation K5 has an annual production goal exceeding 80,000 units, even as the industry pivots towards SUVs and EVs.

To meet a wide range of consumer needs, the refreshed K5 will be offered with multiple powertrain options, including gasoline, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid variants. This diversified approach enables Kia to navigate different global markets with their unique emission standards and charging infrastructures, all while sustaining strong sales figures.

On the technology front, the new K5 will be equipped with Hyundai Motor Group’s next-gen Pleos OS. This upgrade aims to boost the model’s competitiveness by improving infotainment performance, enhancing software integration, and rolling out the latest in-car technologies.
